About Us

Elligo Clinical Research Center (Elligo CRC), founded in 2021, is a clinical research site in Austin, TX. Our facility conducts phase 1 dose escalation vaccine trials, phase II, III and IV clinical studies, in addition to diagnostic and device studies, to help find:

  • New treatments and therapies
  • More effective treatments than previously available
  • Disease prevention therapies
  • New and/or improved medical devices
  • New diagnostic tests

Led by Dr. Faith Holmes, our team has conducted clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas in interventional, diagnostic and device studies. We are a group of healthcare professionals that strive to enhance the quality of health and wellness through medical research.

Investigators

Cary D. Douglass, MD

Dr. Cary D. Douglass is a Principal Investigator and Medical Director at the Elligo Clinical Research Center in Austin, Texas. He received his Medical Degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and went on to complete his Internship and Residency in Family Medicine at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT in 1992.

A practicing physician for more than 30 years, Dr. Douglass participated in clinical trials in his community-based primary care practice in the mid 2000’s and joined Elligo Health Research in September 2022.

Dr. Douglass’s Clinical Research Team at Elligo includes two Sub-Investigators, a Clinical Research Coordinator, a Clinical Research Assistant, and Clinical Research Medical Assistants.

FAITH HOLMES, MD

Faith Holmes, MD, brings more than 30 years of experience in direct patient care, and 11 years of medical practice management to her role as Chief Medical Officer and the Medical Director for the Elligo Clinical Research Center.

Prior to joining Elligo in 2019 Dr. Holmes spent 20 years in clinical practice in Austin including a clinic practice in Dripping Springs. As a part of her practice and as a Hospice and Palliative Care physician she covered the 5 county area around Austin, seeing patients in their homes, at skilled nursing, assisted living facilities and inpatient setting.

Since starting in clinical research, Dr. Holmes has served as the Principal Investigator for interventional, diagnostic device, and observational trials in several therapeutic indications in Elligo’s e-solutions model. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and biology from Trevecca University, her Doctor of Medicine degree from ORU School of Medicine, and is board certified in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Rita Yankyera, MSN, FNP-BC 

Rita Yankyera is a Nurse Practitioner who received her bachelor’s degree in Ghana, West Africa and her master’s degree from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN.

She brings over 7 years of nursing and clinical trial/research experience in multiple therapeutic areas including Nephrology and Kidney transplantation, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Vaccines, and Infectious diseases. She has vast experience working with both adult and pediatric patients from diverse ethnic and racial groups.

Prior to joining Elligo, Rita worked as a Research Nurse at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, TN and later as a Research Nurse Practitioner at Tekton Research, Austin, TX. She is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). 

Loveleen Somal, Md

Loveleen Somal, MD is a Sub-Investigator and Medical Director at the Elligo Clinical Research Center in Austin, Texas. Her experience includes 16 years as a trained medical professional with a diverse education, clinical practice, and research background.

In 2007, she received her degree in Medicine and
Surgery (MBBS) from Government Medical College
(India) and went on to complete her Internship and
Residency in Internal Medicine at St. John Hospital
and Medical Center in Detroit, Ml.

With her extensive clinical and research experience,
she continues to contribute as an investigator with a
history of assisting in more than 12 clinical trials from 2010 to 2024.
